Ecodeal associates itself to a Forum on waste recycling
On 19 and 20 April, the 10th National Waste Forum was held. Promoted by the Água e Ambiente Newspaper and by the About Media Group, the theme of the event was “The Impact of the Circular Economy on the National Waste Sector – Threats and Opportunities”.
Being an important event for the Portuguese waste recycling sector, this National Forum debated the new set of measures for the Circular Economy, presented in December by the European Commission. The ambitious package seeks to impose challenges on the steps of the product value chain: from production to consumption, not to mention waste management and reintegration of market resources and production processes.
The Forum was attended by many operators and public authorities associated with the waste sector and the debate of all points of view was important.
It also counted with the participation of our Director General, Manuel Simões, in the Hazardous Waste Management panel, which focused primarily on the main concerns of operators: How much hazardous waste is produced in our country, if environmental liabilities are part of the solution for the prevention and remediation of contaminated soil, and how is the circuit and routing of hazardous waste controlled?
ECODEAL welcomes the debate on these issues that are in line with the concerns raised in recent meetings where we had the opportunity to hear the Secretary of State for the Environment, Carlos Martins.
ECODEAL hopes that the discussion of these issues will help to raise the awareness of everyone so that Portugal takes better care of its hazardous waste.
